May 8 Meeting Reminder – Rick Coor on Queens!

Subject: Queens…

Our next Meeting will be our regular 2nd Wednesday, May 8th, 2019 at the Kill Devil Hills Library. Arrive anytime after 6:30 pm to socialize – we’ll begin at 7:00 pm.  (If you arrive after the Library locks their front door at 7, follow the sidewalk around the left of the building to the back door. The Library requests no food or drinks be brought inside.)

Our guest speaker is NCSBA Past President, Rick Coor, who will bring us his wealth of queen wisdom. Last year he completed his fourth and final year as the President of the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association & was named NCSBA Beekeeper of the year!

“I have a presentation on determining the status of the queen, and how to determine whether or not the colony has a queen without actually seeing her…”

Rick helped hatch the Born & Bred Queen Rearing Program, even authoring the program’s text, and continues to serve as one of the program’s administrators and co-chairs.

Be sure to bring any good questions you may have!

Just a reminder that there is a volunteer opportunity for the Coastal Garden Festival on Saturday, May 18th, 2019 from 9AM-2:30PM. The time can be applied as a credit when pursuing your Journeyman’s Certification. Please speak to Denise or me if interested/able!
