TIME:  Arrive anytime after 6:30 to hang & socialize, starts at 7 pm… whether you are just getting started, are a seasoned vet, or wanting more info about honey bees in general, we welcome you to join us. (If you arrive after 7 pm when the Library has locked the front door, follow the sidewalk around the left side of the building to the back door. Please remember – no food or drinks inside.)​

SPEAKER:  Etienne Nadeau, a man of many hats! A Master Beekeeper of the NCSBA, past President of our sister group, BOA – Beekeepers of the Albemarle (Eliz. City), in addition to being a local rep for Dadant & Sons beekeeping supplies, & a commercial beekeeper/pollinator.

SUBJECT: Splits! Whether you’re splitting your Hive(s) to increase Quantity, induce an Artificial Swarm, or interrupt Brood Cycle in the battle against Varroa… Feel free to share any input/advice you might have afterward.

Also, some information about the Dare Co. Master Gardeners 2019 Coastal Gardening Festival… 

On May 18th, 2019, the 17th annual Coastal Gardening Festival takes place! “Let’s Grow Native” is the theme this year focusing on native plants that grow well on the Outer Banks. Garden art, handcrafted goods, plants, and refreshments are provided by over 70 vendors. Children’s activities, educational displays and gardening information will be available. Proceeds from the event benefit the outreach programs of the Dare County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers in association with the Dare County Center of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension. When: Saturday, May 18, 2019 – 9:00 am to 2:30 pm

We’d like to have a Booth setup for Education (meetings/mentors/etc.) + Sales (tshirts/stickers/honey/etc.), the Vendor Fee is $50, and we are required to stay for the full duration of the event… PLEASE consider Volunteering to cover a Kids Activity, Honey/Item Sales, or simply Speaking to the attendees!! If anyone has Honey to be sold, I’m positive we will sell out of it.

We’ll also include our usual raffle, so please bring any items you’d like to donate (bee related or otherwise) and/or some dollars to donate toward a ticket to win!
